
SALISBURY, Md. - The third-ranked Salisbury University women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a perfect 13-0 record with a 17-8 victory over the 25th-ranked Roanoke Maroons on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Roanoke's Emerson Foster scored two goals in a row to give the Maroon's the early 2-0 lead.

Salisbury answered the pair of Foster goals with a five-goal run with tallies from Julie Talbert, Alexis Strobel, Riley Hartman, Lauren Valenti and Erin Scannell to give the Sea Gulls a three-goal lead, 5-2.

Foster completed the first-half hat trick as she ended the Salisbury run with a free position goal to bring the score within two, 5-3, with 10:28 remaining in the half.

To answer the Foster goal, Valenti netted two goals to complete the hat trick both off assists from Strobel.

Ellie Armstrong scored the final Roanoke goal of the half off a free position shot to bring the score within three, 7-4.

Talbert, Valenti and Lydia McNulty rounded out the first-half scoring with strikes to extend the Salisbury lead 10-4 going into the second half.

Two minutes into the second half, Lilly Blair scored off a pass from Molly Kasemeyer to cut the Sea Gull lead to 10-5.

Valenti and Scannell scored for the Sea Gulls to push the lead to 11-5 seven minutes into the second half.

Foster and Blair tallied two consecutive goals to end the Roanoke scoring with 16:40 remaining in the game.

Salisbury secured the win with a six-goal flurry to close out the win. McNulty scored four of the last six goals of the game, including three consecutive goals in a span of two and a half minutes.
