SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University women's lacrosse team remains in the No. 2 and No. 4 spots in the nation for the second-straight week, according to the Nike/U.S. Lacrosse and Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) polls, which were released on Monday.
In the Nike/U.S. Lacrosse Poll, the Sea Gulls held at No. 2 for the second consecutive week. Franklin & Marshall remains atop the Nike/U.S. Lacrosse Top 20. Salisbury is followed by Tufts, Washington & Lee and Gettysburg in that order to round out the top five.
The Sea Gulls also remained in the fourth spot in the IWLCA Top 25 after receiving 558 points and two first-place votes. The top five teams in IWLCA Coaches mirrors the Nike/U.S. Lacrosse poll as Franklin & Marshall remain in the top spot in the rankings with 612 points and 19 first-place votes. Tufts and Washington & Lee switch spots in this week's poll. Washington & Lee sits second with 579 points while Salisbury sits between Tufts, who received the final four first-place votes, and Gettysburg in the third and fifth spots respectively.
The Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) is represented by four teams in the IWLCA coaches poll. Salisbury is joined by No. 19 Mary Washington, No. 21 Christopher Newport and No. 22 St. Mary's (Md.).
In the Nike/U.S. Lacrosse poll, the C2C is represented by Salisbury and Mary Washington, who is slotted in the 17th spot in the rankings.
Salisbury pushed its season-opening win streak to nine games after an 18-4 victory last Tuesday over Southern Virginia and a 17-14 win over then-23rd ranked CNU. The Sea Gulls will be back in action this week in a non-conference matchup against Moravian in Bethlehem, Pa on Friday, April 9.
