SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's lacrosse team was ranked third in College Athletic Advisor's Top 10 Programs that Inspire.
Salisbury was recognized from a group of about 500 programs throughout NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA women's lacrosse programs.
The "Programs That Inspire" rankings list was based on a subjective assessment of student experience in the holistic development of student-athletes in the institution, academic achievement, and support for the academic success of student-athletes. The rankings also considered the overall college experience for participants within the program, affordability, graduation rates, and student satisfaction.
Although College Athletic Advisor's list is subjective, the organization believes these rankings "present an informed starting point for a discussion about where student-athletes can excel as 'triple-threat' competitors (academics, athletics, and socially) in college and in their future lives."
Salisbury ranked second among Division III women's lacrosse programs in the Top 10. Middlebury College topped the list while Division II Adelphi University was tabbed second.
Under the direction of Jim Nestor, in his 20th season, Salisbury has made appearances in 17 consecutive NCAA Tournaments with three National Championships. In the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC), Nestor coached the women's lacrosse program to 18 CAC Championships including a run of 16 straight from 2003-18. SU has also seen 65 All-Americans, 10 National Players of the Year and three Elite 90 award winners throughout its program history.
