
CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The second-ranked Salisbury University softball team wrapped up the regular season with a doubleheader sweep over the Washington Shorewomen on Thursday. The Sea Gulls run-ruled the Shorewomen, 8-0, in five-inning and finished the day with a 9-1 victory in the nightcap to end the regular season with a 34-4 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
- Salisbury struck first in the opening inning of the game. A double by Lindsey Windsor and a two-run double by Lauren Meyers gave SU a 3-0 lead.
- Natalie Paoli plated Abby Mace with a bloop RBI single to shallow right field to extend the lead to 4-0.
- Four runs came across the score in the top of the fifth to incur the run-rule Ellen Stockman hit an RBI single to left to score Meghan Reed. Two batters later, Mace took a 3-2 pitch over the left-field fence for a three-run home run to give SU the eight-run lead, 8-0.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
- Abby Mace was a perfect 3-for-3 with a three-run homer, a triple and three runs scored.
- Lauren Meyers hit her 16th double of the season with the two-RBI double in the first inning.
- Lindsey Windsor, Natalie Paoli, Meghan Reed, Carly Galbraith, Emily Challender and Ellen Stockman also collected a hit in the win.
- Windsor (W, 14-0) pitched a complete-game two-hitter. She walked two but collected a strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
- Salisbury scored five runs in the first inning with three of the runs scoring on a passed ball or wild pitch.
- Washington cut into the lead in the bottom of the first with an RBI single by Alyssa Viera.
- Paoli tacked on two more runs in the top of fourth when a hard grounder deflected off the shortstop's glove that scored Madi Lemon and Emily Stockman to push the lead to 7-1.
- The Sea Gulls added insurance runs in the fifth and seventh inning on RBI singles by Mace and Windsor to extend the lead to 9-1.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES – GAME 2
- Abby Mace notched three hits in the nightcap with two runs and an RBI.
- Lindsey Windsor also tallied three hits.
- Emily Challender recorded a pair of hits and scored a pair of runs with an RBI.
- Natalie Paoli drove in a pair of runs with a single in the fourth.
- Savannah Sheats (W, 14-2) earned the win and only allowed a hit and a run.
- Nicole Ortega (SV, 2) struck out five to collect her second save of the season.
UP NEXT
- Salisbury will take on Mary Washington in the opening contest of the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday, April 28. The game time is at 2 p.m.
- The double-elimination tournament will take place in Newport News, Va.
