SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University swimming team was recently presented a $20,000 gift from Keaton Burke '19 and the Burke Family for the Burke Family Swim Team Lounge located in the recently renovated Maggs Physical Activities Center Pool.
"I want to thank Keaton and the Burke Family for their generosity to our men's and women's swimming program," stated Dr. Gerry DiBartolo, SU's Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation. "The new lounge at Maggs will provide an area for the team to relax in a new home away from the pool and a new way to connect with their teammates. This gift will benefit both our men's and women's swim programs, as well as our current and future members of the program"
Keaton's gift was part of a $50,000 gift given around campus by the Burke Family. McKenna Burke '21 recently presented a $30,000 gift to the University's Richard A. Henson Medical Simulation Center in her family's honor.
Keaton Burke was a four-year member of the SU swim team, who primarily competed in the fly and backstroke for the Sea Gulls. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in communications, with a minor in information and decision sciences in 2019.
"I'm very thankful for the generosity of Keaton and the Burke Family to consider making a gift during this unprecedented year," said head men's and women's swimming coach Jill Stephenson. "I'm proud that Keaton's legacy and impact on the program will continue for years to come with the new team lounge area at the pool."
