
SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up the regular season on Saturday afternoon by hosting St. Mary's College of Maryland. The Sea Gull men earned a 143-52 win while the women dropped a 121-82 decision.
Men
The men won all nine individual events on the day.
Kyle Russell picked up the first victory of the day with a convincing first-place finish in the 800-meter freestyle, clocking a time of 9:44.80. Russell later earned his second victory of the day in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:39.86.
Jake Ryan followed up Russell with a win in the 200-meter freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 2:03.88. Ryan also won two events, with the second coming in the 200-meter butterfly, posting a time of 2:18.32.
Josh Brown placed first in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 24.30 seconds.
Peter Moyer joined Russell and Ryan with two victories on the day, collecting a win in the 400-meter individual medley with a time of 5:06.05 and the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:35.34.
Richard Baker joined the action with a victory in the 100-meter freestyle, edging Brown with a time of 54.22 seconds.
Andrew Ward also tallied an individual victory, with his coming in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:25.02.
Ryan, Russell, Baker, and Moyer finished the day with a win in the 800-meter freestyle relay, setting a pool record with a time of 8:11.74.
Women
Jordyn Rowe earned the first win of the afternoon for the women with a time of 2:21.86 in the 200-meter freestyle.
Chase McClure later claimed first in the 100-meter freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 1:04.16.
Angela Barzanti collected a first-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 5:00.43. Barzanti also picked up a second-place finish in the 400-meter individual medley with a time of 5:47.38.
Mary Green, Alice Ricci, and Jordan DeGruchy also added second-place finishes for the women. Green's came in the 800-meter freestyle, Ricci's in the 200-meter butterfly, and DeGruchy's in the 200-meter backstroke.
The men's and women's swimming teams begin the Capital Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday, February 14 at St. Mary's at 4 p.m.
